Meet Shawn & Nina
At the heart of Love & The Lens is more than just a retreat, it’s the love story of two creators who believe in capturing life with both passion and purpose.
We’re Shawn and Nina, a real-life couple whose journey together has been as much about romance as it has been about creativity, growth, and building something extraordinary. Together, we’ve blended our talents to create viral content (our reels reach over 6 million views per month in less than three months!), inspire communities, and now, host unforgettable experiences where love meets the lens.
Nina brings her background as a former model and actress, an avid traveler, life coach, and a true romance lover, into everything she creates. Beyond the artistry, she’s also a PMP-certified Event Specialist, known for her ability to design seamless, transformational experiences.
Shawn is a professional photographer, digital marketing expert, and business coach with an eye for capturing authentic stories through the lens. With years of creative direction and a solid technical background, he helps others elevate not only their content, but also their confidence and presence.
Together, we balance structure with spontaneity, creativity with strategy, and professionalism with play. At this retreat, we’re not just teaching you how to create content, you’ll experience the magic of capturing connection, romance, and your unique essence in ways that feel effortless and real.
Because at the end of the day, Love & The Lens isn’t just about photos or videos. It’s about capturing the beauty of your story, and having a damn good time while doing.

frequently asked questions
December is the very beginning of Costa Rica’s dry season (very little rain), although we may get some. rain or 'Christmas Winds'! Mornings are typically sunny and warm, with temperatures ranging from 75°F to 85°F (24°C to 29°C). Afternoon showers may happen, but they’re usually brief and refreshing, cooling off the lush rainforests and adding to the tropical charm.
We recommend packing:
- Lightweight, breathable clothing for warm weather
- A rain jacket or poncho for afternoon showers
- Comfortable shoes for walking and hiking
- Swimwear for the hot springs or waterfalls
- A reusable water bottle to stay hydrated
- Sunscreen, insect repellent, and a hat
- A journal for reflection and note-taking
- Any personal wellness items (yoga mat optional, as we’ll provide them)
Yes! Our private chef can accommodate dietary restrictions, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other needs. Please let us know your requirements when you register so we can prepare accordingly.
Yes! While the itinerary is thoughtfully planned to include content creation session, excursions, and group activities, there’s also plenty of free time to relax, explore, or enjoy your experience separately. Whether you want to journal by the pool, take a nap, or connect with fellow guests, the choice is yours!
Most of your expenses will be covered, including gratuities, but if you want to do a little extra shopping, US dollars and credit cards are generally accepted in all areas. It is recommended that you bring denominations of $20 or less as higher denominations are often not accepted in local shops and markets. If you do spend US dollars, keep in mind that you will receive your change in Costa Rican colones. If you plan to use a credit card, make sure your card does not charge foreign transaction fees.
